2011 Harley-Davidson XR1200X First Ride Women Who Ride
Although predominantly a man’s toy, several famous Harley girls have left their mark on Harley Davidson’s history. For the most part, however, women haven’t shown a whole lot of interest in riding Harleys, and they’ve been slow to join up with the Harley revolution, preferring for the most part, to remain on the back of the bike.
.
Although their ranks are growing (10% of new Harley sales were to women) and more female-oriented riding clubs are forming and gaining members, the manufacturers of the Harley Davidson motorcycle haven’t yet added the color pink to its production line! So here’s the low-down on the famous Harley girls.
Vivian Bale was the first of the famous Harley girls. Back in 1929, she rode her 45 Twin D Harley almost 5,000 miles, stopping to meet with dealers of her favorite motorcycle along her journey. After that legendary trip, she spent many more years riding and performing motorcycle stunts at various racing events in Florida.

Elizabeth Taylor rode a Purple Passion which was given to her as a gift from her friend Malcolm Forbes, another Harley Davidson enthusiast. It’s been said that he gave her a purple motorcycle to match the unique purple color of her eyes.Another of the famous Harley girls didn’t earn her notoriety because of anything spectacular that she did on or with a motorcycle. Jean Davidson was famous mostly because she was a part of the Davidson family, the Davidson of the Harley-Davidson union. Jean was the granddaughter of one of the founders of this motorcycle empire, and Harley Davidson motorcycles were central to her life.
More recently, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, twice visited the headquarters of Harley Davidson while on a business trip to Wisconsin. While there, she reportedly shopped for Harley apparel (although reports don’t indicate whether she actually bought any merchandise) and admired the newest 2005 models.
It’s likely that more not-so-famous Harley girls exist than famous ones. They’re the gorgeous girls pictured time and again seductively perched atop those breathtakingly beautiful, ultra-shiny chrome Harley Davidson motorcycles. If you’ve done any researching of Harley Davidson products at all, especially photos or other types of images, you’ve likely seen these women and know what I’m talking about. They’re the women that the marketers relied on to help sell their brand of motorcycle. Today, these Harley girls with their bodacious bodies and their bright smiles help sell all sorts of Harley Davidson gear, not just the motorcycles, and they’re pretty good at what they do!.
Don't motorbikes need hubcaps? I always thought it was an important part of the equation. Seemingly not though: someone's put together a hubless Harley, although it took two years of research and development to do it. The bike can reach speeds of 100mph, weighs around 700 pounds, and uses a 1969 Harley Davidson Pan Shovel 80ci engine. This means nothing to me, obviously, but it sounds very impressive.
It's the work of New Jersey firm Howards Killer Customs, and it cost a whopping $150,000 to make. Hopefully there some Hell's Angels out there rich enough to afford it, otherwise some businessman will buy it as part of their midlife crisis, and it'll end up gathering dust in a garage when they realise they're not the Easy Rider they thought they were.Harley Davidson - Coming To India
Last month, Harley-Davidson Inc reported a slump in second-quarter net profit. To come out of the recession blues, Harley has decided to enter the world's second-largest market for bikes - India.

Harley Davidson introduce the 2009 FXDFSE CVO Dyna Fat Bob

New 16-inch Fang wheels also debut on the CVO Fat Bob. These cast-aluminium wheels feature a black powdercoated slotted centre that contrasts with a chrome rim flange with bolt-on “fang” inserts clawing over each slot. The brake discs and rotors are styled to complement the wheels. The front wheel carries a 130mm tyre with that distinctive, blocky tread pattern. On the rear is a 180mm tyre. Premium suspension includes lowered front forks and chromed rear shocks that have been re-tuned for enhanced ride comfort.Chromed from the wheel nut covers to the triple clamps, the front end of the CVO Fat Bob is topped with a chrome pull-back riser, chrome drag-style handlebars, plus chrome switch gear, hand levers, and clutch and brake master cylinders. Hand controls, forward-mounted footpegs, shifter peg and brake pedal pad are from the Ironside Collection. A new two-piece tank console is finished in chrome and Midnight Pearl with a special CVO medallion.
CVO debuts another new material on this motorcycle’s saddle, which features a seating surface covered in Alcantara, a high-tech engineered material that looks and feels like soft, natural suede but exceeds Harley-Davidson standards for durability and comfort. The remainder of the seat is smooth black leather, and it’s finished with a recessed chrome Harley-Davidson medallion. The seat rests over a wide bobtail rear fender that holds a smoked LED tri-bar tail/brake light with a Midnight Pearl slotted cover for a dark and sinister look in the back.Below the distinctive Fat Bob fuel tank that gives this model its name rests the largest engine produced by Harley-Davidson, the Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110. Available only on CVO models, the Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) Twin Cam 110 produces huge and features a heavy-duty, self-adjusting clutch with hydraulic actuation and 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission. The CVO Fat Bob-exclusive Tommy Gun 2-1-2 exhaust snakes around the engine before exiting through chrome blunt-cut mufflers. The header pipes, which are exposed through the exhaust shield slots, are finished with a black coating. The powertrain is finished in CVO-exclusive granite powdercoat with chrome covers, and features new “110 CVO” badges on the chrome billet timer and derby covers. The CVO Fat Bob is available in three colour combinations: Sunrise Yellow Pearl with Platinum Quartz, Black Diamond with Fire Quartz, and Denim Granite with Electric Blue Fade – CVO’s first ever combination of matt and gloss paint finishes. In each case, the frame, swingarm, battery cover, electrical panel cover and coil cover are colour-matched to the main bodywork colour.
